Northern Digital Incorporated (NDI) was the selected Control Systems Consultant / Control Systems Engineering Firm for the expansion of the Water Purification Plant (WPP). This included associated pumping facilities and electrical facilities including raw water pump station, flash mix facilities, flocculation and sedimentation basins, filters, a finished water clearwell, chemical feed facilities, and upgrade modifications to existing facilities.
The expansion project substantially increased the capacity of the WPP which also included adding a new North Pump station, expanding the capacity of the East Pump Station, construction of a new electrical substation, and service entrance switchgear.
The Scope of Work for this project consisted of consulting engineering for the SCADA control system design including the selection of SCADA software and PLC hardware. The SCADA system integration consisted of Phase #1 (new plant expansion) and Phase #2 (upgrades to the existing Plant) and integration into the new SCADA control system. Integration services included PLC programming, HMI development, system testing and verification, commissioning, startup, training, system documentation, and the development of an Operations Manual. NDI’s recommendation for the new SCADA System consisted of Wonderware ArchestrA HMI Software and the Modicon Quantum Unity PLC platform which utilizes the IEEE object oriented infrastructure as its primary architecture.
